Samsung Galaxy Note 7 First Impression!

Another year yet comes another note lineup from Samsung. This is the sixth generation note but they called it Galaxy Note 7, this is purely marketing move since they want to follow its own Galaxy S series with the same numbers padded after the ‘S’ branding. You may be asked what’s the difference between the already good 2015 Note 5, and whether it is a good decision to upgrade or just wait until the next generation Note 8 in 2017? Here’s my first impression on the device itself, purely because I just got It yesterday and I don’t play around with it enough to write a full-fledged review for you guys.

Okay, let’s get to the chase about the specification of the phone. Mine, in particular, had the Samsung Exynos Octa 8890 running at 2.6 GHz, 5.7” Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 12 MP Dual Pixel sensor and 5 MP front-facing camera, 64 GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 256 GB with micro SD card, USB-C for charging, and Iris Scanner for security purposes. The black one looks stunning with the sides blends perfectly to the colour scheme, so sad that the Blue Coral is not going to enter the Australian market. The S Pen has been greatly improved with smaller tips for precision strokes and did I mention that the new Note is IP 6/8 water resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes?
I can go on and on about the TouchWhiz being great on this phone, but coming from Note 5 and been used to the stock android experience in my Nexus 6P, it’s good to know that the overall experience with the note has been superb. The phone responds fast when you need it the most, even under load I cannot seem to find any hiccup. The first setup when installing apps in the background will affect your user interface, but restarting the device after you’ve done your setup will eventually throw the slowness away and back to a snappy new device!

Some of the new features that I personally like is you can make GIFs under the smart select, edge features are back from the S7 Edge, off-screen writing is back and can be pinned into the always on display for reminder purposes.
For all smartphone geeks out there, below I have provided popular benchmarks that I could test on my note by which are Antutu and Geekbench 3.

Camera performance has been great, I took some samples myself this morning and the pictures looks great. I will post a review of the note in approximately 1-2 weeks from now, with the possibility of taking over my Nexus 6P as my daily driver!
Until then folks, stay awesome and have a blessed day :)
